April Newsletter, 2025

Beaver Valley Elementary

Spring has sprung and while we may not currently have warm weather, it is rapidly approaching. With increasing temperatures comes an increase in dress code issues. Please help us maintain the focus on academics and monitor shorts and shirts to ensure that they provide adequate coverage. The district dress code is policy JICA  and can be found on the district website. Please set aside time in your busy schedule and plan to attend the Brush Family Literacy Night on April 9th from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. The guest author presentation starts at 4:30 p.m. in the Beaver Valley gym. This is a Thomson and Beaver Valley event so anticipate extra people in attendance, please be patient, sometimes success can be crowded. Reading impacts all areas of education and has a positive lifelong effect, so join us and let’s all encourage reading. Please contact us if you have any questions.

Respectfully,

Mr. Brian Singley, Principal

Mr. James Wilson, Assistant Principal

From the Assistant Principal’s Chair: LET THEM SEE YOU DO IT.

April is a month often associated with Religious holidays. If it is your religion associated with these, then a great activity is to look up and read about why they are celebrated, and this is fairly easy to LET THEM SEE YOU DO IT and do it with your kids.

If that doesn’t work for you, a fun activity that many kids like to do is to create a countdown to the end of the school year. Just creating a countdown tends to take away from the focus of school, but creating one with positive thoughts or activities/quests for them to complete will keep them rolling along, especially if you can tie it into school somehow.  This should definitely be a “team” activity as working together again will make it more meaningful for them.

Counselor’s Chronicle:

This month’s Character Strong focus is Courage.

We all experience moments in our lives when we have to choose to do what is right and Kind. Sometimes, it’s not easy to know what choice to make. We need to have the right tools to make those decisions and be strong enough to follow through.

  • This month's focus for 3rd grade is practicing Courage with the help of flexible thinking.

  • This month's focus for 4th grade is practicing Courage with the help of organization.

  • This month's focus for 5th grade is practicing Courage when goal-setting.
