February Newsletter, 2025
Beaver Valley Elementary
Happy new year! We hope that your holidays were filled with friends and family. Beaver Valley is eager to begin the second half of the school year. With December behind us and the major testing windows closed, Beaver Valley will be looking at fresh data. We will be using that data to regroup and better meet student needs. The huge February event is Parent Teacher Conferences. Please make room in your schedule to attend. Teachers have been preparing since January for Parent Teacher Conferences. Please maintain close communication with your child's teacher to schedule and attend conferences. Conferencing with your child’s teacher ensures that we are in partnership to provide your child the best learning opportunities. Please contact us if you have any questions.
Respectfully,
Mr. Brian Singley, Principal
Mr. James Wilson, Assistant Principal

From the Assistant Principal’s Chair: LET THEM SEE YOU DO IT.
February is so often associated with Valentine's Day (2.14) and President’s Day (2.17), and in our community, there is often a big deal made of the State Wrestling Tournament for our high school kids (2.20 - 2.23). According to the Cynic's Guide to Self-Improvement 80% of all New Year’s Resolutions get adjusted this month. This gives us a wide variety of things to work with our children on during this month.
Writing out Valentines gives us an opportunity to practice writing poetry
President’s day gives us an opportunity to look up our history and discuss why these particular Presidents are so important to our country.
Many of us will be watching the Wrestling Tournament, and this gives us a chance to practice our math as we look at how it is scored, The possible scores Brush could have at the end, or even discuss family history if you have someone who used to wrestle.
Revising our Resolutions gives us all those connections that we looked at in January.
Remember, if you are doing it with them and engaged in these opportunities to explore academic connections to the real world we are building meaningful connections that will stick with your child into the future. LET THEM SEE YOU DO IT, and please, let them see you have fun while you do it.
Counselor’s Chronicle:
This month’s Character Strong focus is Honesty.
It’s not always easy to be Honest in our words, actions, or thoughts with others or with ourselves. Practicing Honesty with ourselves allows us to identify emotions, be aware of our emotions, regulate emotions, and advocate for our emotions.
