December Newsletter, 2024

Beaver Valley Elementary

December is a short month packed full of activities.  We kick off the month by checking in on our student’s academic progress.  This is measured with benchmark assessments in DIBELS and NWEA.  It is always exciting to see how much our students have grown over the first half of the school year.  Our fifth grade will present a holiday music program on the 11th in the Beaver Valley gym from 5:30 - 6:30 pm; please plan on attending to get the season off to a festive start. We will be celebrating student reading accomplishments with  AR Parties starting December 18th.  AR points are due on December 16th, and invitations will be sent out on December 17th.  Students who have met their individual goals will get to celebrate.  Students who didn’t meet their goal will have an opportunity to get a jump start on their goal for the third quarter.  Finally, we will wrap up the second quarter on December 19th and start our holiday break.  We wish you a safe and happy holiday season!

Respectfully,

Mr. Brian Singley, Principal

Mr. James Wilson, Assistant Principal

Beaver Valley Building Accountability Committee  (BAC)

Greetings from Beaver Valley Parent Teacher Advisory and Accountability Committee  (PTAAC)!

Our Big Kahuna Fundraiser raised over $18,000 for Beaver Valley, and here’s what these funds are

helping to provide this year already:

  • - Weekly coffee deliveries to staff

  • - “Mini” bows for some of our smaller students for archery in PE

  • - Safety vests and equipment for your Student Council to keep our school clean!

  • - Student prizes and awards for Brush Pride assemblies and beyond….

  • - Several Field Trips

This year, we are focusing on appreciating our teachers and staff ALL YEAR! Special thanks to Mrs.

Nichols and Ashley Farnam, thank you for making the Willow Coffee deliveries happen!

We would love input from more Beaver Valley parents, so join us for our next meeting!

The next meeting will be on Monday, December 16th, at 4:00 pm in the Beaver Valley library.

From the Assistant Principal’s Chair: LET THEM SEE YOU DO IT.

December is often seen as a letter-writing month.  Whether the letters are to Santa or to loved ones who don’t live that close, it is a time to express ourselves minus the phone or computer screen.  Encourage your child to get involved in the process.  This works on skills like handwriting, sentence structure, critical thinking, and analytical writing.  If you LET THEM SEE YOU DO IT as well, it will build connections for them that they will find important later in life.
