Character Strong starts the year off with a focus on Kindness. While we will continue to reinforce this throughout the year, we are getting ready to start a new focus. This will be on RESPECT. Here are the Family Focus sections for each of our three grade levels. Please take the time to read through this and use the conversation starters sometime this month to help reinforce the value and meaning of respect.
By the way, if you have children in multiple grade levels, you will notice that this information is not the same at each grade level, especially the conversation starters.
3rd Grade
In the world, we need to be able to interpret “why” and “how” situations happen and then respond appropriately to that information. By practicing Respect, we can improve communication and reduce misunderstandings when interacting with our community. This month's focus for 3rd grade is on practicing Respect by practicing perspective-taking.

In our lives and experiences we have learned that effective leaders have not only earned Respect but they also extend it to others. Leadership and Respect go hand in hand. When we are polite and Respectful to others, people will be more willing to work and play with us. This month's focus for 5th grade is on Respect as a leader.
